Guild Service Projects:
Battered Women's Task Force – As part of the 2008 Guild Quilt show we held a silent auction of donated mini quilts. This proceeds of this auction was donated to the Battered Women's Task Force. The auction raised a total of $2300.
Quilts for the VA – The VA hospital in Topeka is asking for donations of lap quilts or afghan size quilts for the veterans being treated there. Suggested size: width of fabric (36" to 44" square) or afghan size 44 x 72. Fleece lap throws are welcome too. Contact Melissa Wesley at 2-ramblers@live.com for more information.
Midland Hospice – Midland Hospice is now presenting small Burden Bears to all their new clients and is in need of small, approx. 6" & 8" quilts for the bears. This size is not set in stone, just a recommendation. These can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. If you can help in any way, either by making quilts or donating some small pieces of fabric, please contact sheliaram@sbcglobal.net
American Hero Quilts – If anyone would like to make a quilt to be donated to the American Hero Quilt project Cathy Kissling has offered to quilt a few tops tat we make. Baby Quilts – On March 15th, 2008 (National Quilting Day), Our guild presented 473 baby quilts to the local Topeka hospitals. Watch for this program again in 2009, it's never too late or too early to work on those baby quilts, they are so appreciated by the individuals that receive them!
