Show and Tell

You will enjoy Show and Tell at each meeting. We invite you to bring your old quilts, new quilts, or projects that you have just begun, to share with us at Show and Tell. If you have had an experience with quilting while traveling or just have something interesting to tell us about, please share this at Show and Tell.

Library

Are you looking for a certain quilt pattern or a book by a special author? Try looking in our library. The library is available to all members to check out books, patterns, and various other quilt related items at each meeting. The only requirements are that you be a Guild member and return the book within 30 days.

Mini Workshops

What about learning new techniques? The Guild offers mini-workshops at various times of the year. The workshops are usually free but may involve a nominal fee. We have learned everything from basic quilting to design. And, these workshops are usually taught by members. If you have a special technique to share at a workshop, please contact the program chairperson. We would be glad to have you help out. We also have workshops with the program speakers available several times during the year. These are special opportunities to learn with nationally recognized instructors.

Quilt Shows

The Kansas Capital Quilters Guild hosts an annual quilt show. The show is our one big fund raising project for the year. The proceeds raised from the show allow the guild to bring in quest speakers and special programs through out the year. The show consists of the quilt displays, Viewers Choice judging, the Mini Quilt Silent auction, the Guild Boutique and many local vendor booths. There are many ways to be involved in the show, displaying a quilt, donating items to the boutique shop, or volunteering during the show.

 Service Projects
The Kansas Capital Quilters Guild participates in many service projects throughout the year that benefit our community. We have donated baby quilts to local hospitals, made mini quilts for the Midland Hospice organization and lap quilts for the VA hospital.

 Parties

Did someone say Party? Yes, we have two parties a year. One is our big birthday party the first meeting in July. The other is our Christmas party the first meeting in December. Both are pot-luck and we are very lucky to have so many good cooks! There are crazy games, socializing, and lots of prizes. These are parties the devoted quilter should never miss.

 Grapevine Groups

Grapevine Groups are smaller groups of guild members that meet during the month at various locations throughout Topeka. Grapevine groups provide an opportunity to meet and get to know other guild members that are in your area, visit or work on special projects in a smaller setting.
